Back in June, I had the pleasure of spending part of the afternoon and evening with Debbie, Rob and their gorgeous children, Charlie and Poppy. I had documented their wedding back in 2010 so I was delighted to be asked to spend some time with them and their family now they are at the phase of their lives, to observe and document their time together.
I met the gang at Val De la Mare, which is the second largest reservoir on the Island. The reservoir has a natural wealth of flora and fauna and is home to many species of birds and wildlife. Owls are also particularly encouraged at the reservoir – see if you can spot their nesting boxes. An arboretum has also been created at the reservoir. This garden devoted to trees provides a lush and safe environment for wildlife. So, all in all, this was a brilliant place to meet, especially as this a favourite location for the family.
Charlie and Poppy have such a wonderful relationship and from what I observed seemed to be the best of friends. Charlie, ever the boy, was adventurous, as was Poppy who was totally fearless and threw herself into whatever her brother was up to (literally as you’ll see once you scroll down!)
After wringing out some rather wet socks, it was time to leave the reservoir and head back home for some pizza making, joined by Granny, Grandad and Aunty. Some pre-bedtime reading and then bathtime and bed.
Thank you for inviting me to spend some time with you all. It was wonderful after all this time! Thank you also for your very kind feedback regarding the experience and your Jersey Documentary Family Photography….
“We asked Catherine to be our photographer for our wedding in 2010. Since doing such a fantastic documentation of our day she is now a regular at family and friends weddings. We were so pleased to hear that Catherine had started doing family shoots. Our children are now 4 and 6 so we thought it would be a fantastic time to capture these precious moments. Catherine suggested we went somewhere that the children are familiar with. We opted for a walk around our local woods. Catherine was so natural in her approach. The children literally forgot she was there. She was so accommodating when I asked if some of my extended family could come around to capture some shots too. Catherine not only has an amazing talent but has such a lovely manor when capturing memories. The photos she has produced literally brought me to tears. I am so pleased we have these precious memories to keep forever in the most amazing and beautiful pictures. We simply cannot thank her enough and would highly recommend her to everyone”
