I’m known amongst my family and friends to be a little on the sentimental side, but some of my most valued belongings are my childhood photographs and those of my family and son as he was growing up. We were lucky enough to have idylic family holidays in Jersey, my father’s birth place and the West Country and we have many prints from those years.  How I value being transported back in time to those times.  I do posess a few rare photos of myself and my son but in most cases I don’t exist in these photographs as mostly I was behind the camera!   So, in short, how fantastic would it have been to have had some of those fleeting moments documented as my son grew up which included myself and my family?!

As a professional photographer, i’ve had the privilage of photographing many families.  I thought it would be relevent to hear the relevence of professional photographic session, in their own words….

Collette, Alex and Leo…

Kent newlyborn family photographer

“When we became parents for the first time it was such a life changing moment and being the people we are, we love to capture the special times in our lives in images. So we decided that we would like some photos taken of our newborn son. Rather than take our own photos we wanted something more professional and also someone who could capture us all together as a new

family. Having worked with Catherine on our engagement photos and on our wedding day it was only natural that she would be the photographer we wanted to work with again when our son was born. As anyone who has experienced becoming parents will know as well as being a magical time, it can also be overwhelming and we wanted to work with a photographer who we could feel relaxed with and who we would be comfortable having in our home – Catherine was perfect for this!

Our son was about 10 days old when Catherine came to take some photographs of him and of us as a family (including our beloved dog!). She was relaxed, but professional and captured some truly beautiful shots of the little person who had changed our lives forever. We had a lovely time doing the shoot and it was a welcome break from the intensity of the first couple of weeks as parents with numerous visitors, nappies and endless feeds – it was a chance for us to stop and enjoy this special time. What we love about Catherine’s work is her ability to capture moments and feelings in a very natural and relaxed way – and not once were we asked to curl our son into a fruit basket with a silly hat on his head! All the shots were elegant, timeless and tasteful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Catherine to anyone who is looking for an excellent photographer to capture something special in their lives”

Michelle & her boys…

“Children grow up so quickly and, in the age of smart phones, I had become increasingly reliant on my iphone rather than a proper camera to capture spontaneous moments – with varying results. I was therefore keen to commission some high-quality professional photography to capture my sons’ youthfulness at that moment in time so that I would have something special to look back on for years to come.

When researching for a local photographer for a family photo shoot, I was looking for someone who was comfortable working outside of a photographic studio environment because I wanted the photos to reflect our lifestyle, living on the coast. I found Catherine via a web search and knew immediately from looking at the photos on her website that she would be perfect – I loved her honest reportage style. On the day of the shoot, we met Catherine on location at Whitstable Castle and then spent some time on the beach. It was the perfect location with lots of things for my two boys to do. Catherine was simply wonderful with them, immediately putting them at ease, and they both enjoyed spending time with her. The resulting photos were stunning and I have had so many lovely comments about them. I never tire of looking at them. Thank you, Catherine, for creating such beautiful and memorable keepsakes of my family. I hope we get the chance to work together again soon”

Katherine, Duncan and Frankie…

“We were looking to have photos taken of our newborn for family and friends. We asked Catherine to photograph the joy our daughter has brought to our lives but got much more than we expected! We found each photo had their own story to
tell. Catherine captured some wonderful intimate moments of our family. It’s the little details that we love so much!”
